Staples $.99 Stamp Update

Quite a few people were having a problem with the Staples $.99 rubber stamp deal I posted a couple days ago… and it looks like if you ordered it you might get stuck paying for shipping. Many people are getting this email:

“Thank you for your recent purchase of a custom stamp (3/4” x 1 7/8′), model E4912, sku 341978. Please note that the advertisement for this stamp stated that “Shipping charges apply.” We have identified that your order (order number listed above) is missing the required shipping fees. If you would like 7 day delivery, the shipping charge is $9.95, or you can choose expedited shipping for $13.95. Please call us at 888-333-3199 by Tuesday, January 29th to confirm your desired shipping preference. If we do not hear from you by this date, we will assume that you do not want the order fulfilled and we will issue you a refund within 5-7 business days.”

If your ordered the stamp, and don’t want to pay $11, don’t worry.  They won’t charge you unless you call.  But we all know that it doesn’t cost them $10 to ship a little rubber stamp.  Staples was offering the stamp for $.99 but making up the difference in shipping charges. That’s fine, but they really made a mess of this.  I have ordered a ton of stuff from Shutterfly, Vistaprint and other companies that offer deals like this.  When they offer 101 free prints, you HAVE to have them shipped, you can’t choose the option of picking them up at the store to avoid shipping.  I don’t know why Staples didn’t figure this out, but I kinda feel like they should have honored the deal and learned an expensive lesson.

I am sorry this deal stunk. I try really hard to post deals that are legit, and most of the time I have bought the item myself so I know it works.
